Fred B. Noble reminiscence
Scope and Contents Note
This collection contains one letter, written by Fred B. Noble to Fred W. Dumschott on July 12, 1973. This letter is in response to a letter from Dumschott asking Noble to reminisce about his years as a student at Washington College, beginning in 1898. Topics include activities of the Mount Vernon Literary Society, social life and hazing of students, athletics, faculty, and some history of the campus's development and renovations.

Biographical Information
Fred Blaine Noble (1883-1978) was born in Maryland to Isaac L. Noble (1829-1901) and Mary E. Corkran Noble (1849-1923). He earned his Bachelor’s degree from Washington College in 1902 and then a law degree from Harvard in 1907. Noble opened a law practice in Florida and actively worked there until his death, while also pursuing a variety of educational activities. He received a Bachelor of Arts in French in 1975 from Jacksonville University, studied advanced French at the University of LaRochelle, and also spent a summer at Oxford University. Noble married Eva Wyand Noble (1883-1966) and they had one child together, Mary Noble McQuerry (1917-2006). Fred Noble died of a heart attack in 1978 and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery in Jacksonville, Florida.
