Scope and Contents Note From the Collection: This collection contains two editions of The Echo, a student-created publication, dated about 1887 and February 28, 1902. Some editors of The Echo were: Clara Usilton; Palmer Carroll; Effie Crouch; J. Wilbur Hirons; William Wheatly; Charles Wheatly; and Walter Lusby Nicholson. There is also mention of Wheatly’s sister Josephine also contributing to the publication. The first part is a biography of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, the second contains copies of various news items from the time....

Scope and Contents Note From the Collection: This collection contains Joseph Burchinal’s correspondence, course work, speeches and other materials during and after his education at Washington College in Chestertown, Maryland. Included in his correspondence are two letters that discuss the beginning of the Civil War and mention soldiers in Chestertown, the other is on stationary with an image of Uncle Sam kicking Jeff Davis.
