Scope and content note

Sent care of Dr. Thomas Willson, Anna has married Richard B. Willson. Letter mentions Julia’s recent move, marriages in Georgetown, Mathew’s new hobby of hot house gardening, Mr. Clagget recovering from a boxing match, and other family news. The letter also mentions a girl, Sarah, who is a slave owned by Julia. Sarah has suffered frostbite on her feet and Julia writes “slave holders ought to be attentive to their young slaves and if it should ever ne your lot to own any I hope you will consider yourself obliged to instruct them in Christian principles and attend to their personal comforts likewise”.
