Biographical Information
Price Roe Stradley (1918-1945) was born on April 12th in Kent County, Maryland, to Victor Howard Stradley, Jr. (1893-1925) and Caroline Roe Stradley (1887-1960). He attended Washington College from 1938 to 1940 when he enlisted in the United States Navy Reserves on June 17, 1940. He became a pilot and achieved the rank of Lieutenant. His plane was shot down in the Pacific and he was reported missing on May 11, 1945, later declared dead. He was posthumously awarded the Navy Cross for a direct hit made on a Japanese aircraft carrier enabling its sinking. He married Dorothea Gilgillan of Delaware, and they had one child together. Dorothea resided in Galena, MD until her death in 2004.
