Organizational History
Hutzler Brothers Company, also known as Hutzler’s, was a department store in Baltimore, Maryland on the corner of Howard and Clay Sts. It was founded in 1858 by Abraham G. Hutzler starting as a dry goods store expanding into a chain with ten locations. In 1888 the original location was razed and replaced with the neoclassical building that still stands today. Despite being one of the longest family-owned Maryland businesses it was liquidated in 1990.
