Biographical Information

Robert Lee Swain, Jr. (1914-1990) to Dr. Robert L. Swain (1887-1963) and Esther Beach Sprecher Swain in Sykesville, Maryland. He graduated from Washington College in 1937 with a strong interest in History and journalism. He worked for the Washington College History club and started the Washington College branch of the Historical Society. He wrote several pamphlets on Maryland history and authored and drew a column, “Your Delaware and Mine.” He worked for forty-one years in New York in publishing, editorial cartoon, and advertising. He passed away in New York in 1990.
