Biographical Information

Robert Day (1941-2022) was born in Shawnee, Kansas. He received his undergraduate and master’s degrees from the University of Kansas, Lawrence. He taught at Fort Hays University. He then went for a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Arkansas while also beginning a teaching career at Washington College, in the English Department. He was the founder and director of the Rose O’Neill Literary House and Publisher of the Literary House Press. An author of the Western novel, he is most known for his book The Last Cattle Drive. He became a mentor to many young writers, and his legacy lives on through the Literary House and the Robert and Kathryn Day Endowment for the Literary Arts. He passed in 2002 in his home state of Kansas.
