This collection contains a letter to John or Henry Elbert, of Lexington, Kentucky, from John Sangston regarding a suit for hire against the heirs of Robert Gamble. Langston appears to be soliciting others into the suit, including Kensey Harrison and Thomas Wright of Centerville.

Biographical Information

John Allen Sangton (1795-1850) was in the textile and leather manufacturing industry in Greensboro, Caroline County, Maryland. He was active in local politics. His Wife was Sarah Roe Sangton (1793-1875).

Henry D. Elbert (1768-1847) was born in Talbot County, Maryland, to Rev. Dr. John Lodman Elbert (1736-1772) and Anne Porter (1744-1772). He died in Kentucky.
