This collection contains photographs taken by or belonging to Wilbur Jackson Stenger, Sr. while he was a student at Washington College. Seven images are of at least two different biplanes on campus and three are aerial photographs of Washington College most likely taken from one of the planes.

Biographical Information

Wilbur Jackson Stenger, Sr. (1902-1978) was born June 3, in Williamsport, Maryland to Harry C. Stenger (1866-1949) and Flora Wolf Stenger (1864-1942). He attended Washington College, graduating in 1923. He then received a master’s from the University of Maryland in 1947. W. J. became a teacher and finally principal of Chestertown High School. He married Helen Tilghman Connelly Stenger (1898-1990). Together they had three children, Dr. W. Jackson, Jr., class of 1949, Richard T., and Henrietta Lemen. W. J. died of a heart attack June 17, 1978.
