Scope and Contents Note

This collection contains one hundred ninety-five negatives of the 1930-1931 Freshman class at Washington College. These were most likely taken for the Pegasus yearbook. Since only the senior class had individually identified photographs in the yearbook it is difficult to identify each student. These negatives have been digitized for access.

Biographical Information

William Hamilton Danneberg (1907-1980) was born on March 29th in Baltimore, Maryland to Otto Ferdinand Danneberg and Elizabeth Rehbein Danneberg. He attended Baltimore Polytechnic Institute briefly before coming to Washington College. A Science major Bill also filled his free time with extracurriculars including the Mount Vernon Literary Society, the Elm, Student Council, and managing several of the sports teams. He also was a member of the Dramatic Club, a Kappa Alpha, and during his senior year, he was editor of the Pegasus. While at Washington College he met Arrianne “Anne” Bonwill, class of 1930, of Still Pond, MD. Danneberg graduated with the class of 1932 and two years later he married Anne. They had one son, William H. Danneberg, Jr. The couple then left Maryland and lived in New Jersey, Delaware, Oklahoma, and Alabama. When he retired in 1969, he was the superintendent of a real estate division for a Palmerton firm. The couple returned to Still Pond, and Bill passed away on January 8, 1980.
