Alan Eliason photograph collection
This collection contains negatives and photographs taken by Alan at various Washington College events and in his capacity as a portrait photographer. The negatives are suffering from vinegar syndrome, a type of degradation common to the plastics used at that time. The negatives have been scanned and are available in digital format.
Albury Hopkins Moore, class of 1930, negatives
This collection contains ninety-one negatives taken in 1926. A majority of the photographs are of Washington College including the campus, sporting events, fellow students, and events. There are also images of friends and family, a visit to the Ohio Canal National Historic Park, and some Chester River scenes.
Dudley Reed negatives
This collection contains large and medium-format black-and-white negatives of various events. Those taken for the college include commencements and awards, John F. Kennedy’s campaign visit, and photographs of Charles Downs. Other images of events and people in Chestertown and the surrounding area were taken, most likely for the Kent News.

This collection contains a letter home written on the playbill for the Washington College Dramatic Club’s production of “A Full House” where Nellie played the role of Susie. The letter talks about the production and the dramatic club as well as other news.
Robert C. Thackery letter (transcript)
This collection contains a transcript of a letter written by Robert C. Thackery to the editor of The Cecil Whig. It was published in the June 14, 1870 paper. The letter was written in Chestertown, while Thackery was a student at Washington College. In this letter, Thackery laments the fact that people on the Eastern Shore are not sending their children to Washington College, and implores them to do so.
W. H. Danneberg negatives of the 1930-1931 Freshman class
This collection contains one hundred ninety-five negatives of the 1930-1931 Freshman class at Washington College. These were most likely taken for the Pegasus yearbook. Since only the senior class had individually identified photographs in the yearbook it is difficult to identify each student. These negatives have been digitized for access.
