Organizational History

The Student Activities Committee was formed in the early 1930s. It was comprised of students and faculty and had the final say on any dances held on campus, including those organized by the Fraternities and Sororities. They worked with the Cotillion Club and later with the Blue Key Society. There was often controversy surrounding these dances, and in the 1960s, a significant push emerged to abolish the Greek System on campus. The Student Government Association took over the decisions regarding dances and events on campus.
