Organizational History
The Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) was founded on June 6, 1844, in England and is a parachurch organization. The branch at the college was organized in 1877. “The Y” we have today acts as a center for after-school, day care, and physical fitness facilities. The organization and the Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA) have had a long association with the students at the college, through hosting events and even publishing the student handbooks.
