Scope and content note The bonfire, held on campus, was to celebrate Liberty Loan Victory and was lit by Judge James A. Pearce. The pyre was made up of wood and materials from various buildings around Chestertown including a door from the Custom House, wood from the Pearce home (possibly the Hynson Ringgold House), a plank from the oldest house in Maryland, shingles from Wide Hall, and woodwork from the Wickes home.
