Organizational History Note
The Women’s League of Washington College was organized on May 12th, 1951, by Mrs. Helen Gibson, wife of President Daniel Gibson. There were fifty-four members made up of alumnae, friends of the college, faculty members, and wives. The first meeting was held in June of 1951. The purpose of the League was to promote the welfare of the College and to foster closer relations between the College and the community. To achieve this the League holds programs of entertainment, enlightenment, and fund raising. The League is still active.
