This collection contains excerpts from Ezra Stiles’ diaries. Ezra Stiles was a contemporary of William Smith and wrote in his diaries the creation of Washington College. They are only the entries related to the early history of Washington College. Frederica Albee Strong wrote these excerpts for a book the College was writing on its history. This collection contains the diary William Price kept during the Civil War. Along with handwritten entries, there are newspaper articles pasted in. Some are wartime reports others are published accounts of Price’s remarks. Price’s son Benjamin was enlisted with Company A of the 13th Maryland Regiment. He enlisted when he lived in Chestertown.
