Organizational History

The Social Life Committee was formed in 1963, at the recommendation of the faculty, to give the same weight to social life and extracurriculars as to academics. Its report was published in 1964. The report covered the college community, physical conditions, personal conduct, and campus organizations. It recommended the elimination of fraternities, which caused some controversy that lasted well into the 1970s.
